As opposed to credit reports, credit scores are not free. Some companies offer a “free” one if you sign up for one of their services.

While you can get your credit report for free, no credit reporting agency releases scores for free.

Truecredit.com
You can sign up for their free trial and as long as you cancel in time you don’t have to pay. There are other sites out there that offers the same thing.

Credit scores are not free – anywhere. The official ones are at myfico.com.

As far as I know, there is no truly “free” way to get your FICO score.
All these free credit score places you see advertised want you to sign up for some sort of credit monitoring service. Oh sure, you can get your score and cancel the service, but it’s a hassle. And of course, you’ll never be quite sure they won’t go ahead and charge you anyway.
There are a few places that will give you an approximation of your score for free. Try creditkarma.com. Their gimmick is they’ll track a similar score, while offering you advertising each time you ask them to update your score. I use it and it’s OK.

You’ll have to use one of those “free” services that allow you to view and print out your credit report and score for a limited period, usually 7 days. The key is to cancel the service during the trial period to avoid any fees. Just be careful to cancel EVERYTHING immediately to avoid being charged.

Yep, you gotta do the “free” signup and then cancel before you get to the billing cycle. I’ve got a list and reviews of a few of them on my blog.

You can get a totally free credit score (and a free credit report) at Quizzle.com. Most of the websites that promise a “free” credit score require that you sign up for a trial of credit monitoring, which you only have a short time to cancel, otherwise you’ll be charged. Quizzle is really and truly free. They don’t even ask you for your credit card.
